As someone who travels at least once a month, and has worked as a journalist in four continents (Australia, Asia, UK and USA), it made sense to combine my two passions and become a travel writer.
After completing my communications degree, I worked as a newspaper reporter in Sydney before embarking on every young Aussie's first adventure - backpacking around Europe. For three years I lived in London and wrote an occasional column called 'Someone's Got To Do It' in the travel section of The Independent.
When I returned to Australia I met a couple of creative souls and together we travelled around the country, writing stories and taking photos for our website, Mad Nomads, and various publications. One of these travel magazines, Get Up & Go, offered me a job as editor in 2003.
Now I am a freelance travel writer, based in New York. I'm the editor of Cruise Weekly and its two e-newsletters (consumer and trade).
My stories have also been published in: The Australian, Sun Herald, Sunday Telegraph, Daily Telegraph, Vacations & Travel, Courier Mail, South China Morning Post, RM Williams' Outback, Scoop Traveller, TNT, Cruise Passenger, Open Road, Road Ahead, City Weekly, Discover, Get Lost, Out There, Guardian (UK), Sunday Observer (UK), Qantas' and Virgin Blue's inflight mags, as well as penning chapters in Time Out (Sydney) and The Book: Adventure Atlas of Australia.
